RX-8 S1 Audio On Board DTCs and Tests

Procedure for initializing Diagnostic Test Mode
- Turn the ignition switch to the ACC/ON position
- Hold down the Power, then press and hold FM/AM and TAPE/MD buttons simultaneously for 2+ seconds
- Use the seek up and down buttons to scroll through the codes
[Note: This mode will not initialize if you have no DTCs in memory]

- Initialize the DTC mode
- The LCD will display three items
- Supplier Code
- Device Code/Part Number
- Error Code

DTC Memory Clearing Procedure
- Initialize the DTC mode
- Hold down the POWER button, then press and hold the TEXT/AUDIO CONT button for 2 seconds
- To exit DTC mode, turn the ignition switch to LOCK
LCD Test
- With the audio head unit on, hold down the POWER button and press the SEEK button for 1 second
- The LCD display should have all spaces lit up. If any portion is not lit, or the display is faint, there is a malfunction
- To exit the LCD test mode, turn the audio head unit off, or move the ignition switch to the LOCK position
Button Test
- With the audio head unit on, press and hold the POWER button and press the CLOCK button for 1 second
- Once activated, press any button and listen for the beep to verify it is working. No functions will be activated by the buttons in this mode for testing
- To exit button test mode, turn the audio head unit off or move the ignition switch to LOCK
Speaker Test
- With the audio head unit on, press and hold the POWER button and press the TUNE/AUTO-M button for 1 second
- Each speaker should output sound in individually in this order:
- Front passenger door speaker and tweeter
- Front driver door speaker and tweeter
- Rear driver side speaker
- Rear passenger speaker
- To exit the speaker test turn the audio head unit off or turn the ignition switch to LOCK
Radio Signal Test
- With the audio head unit on, press and hold the POWER button, then press PRESET 2 for 1 second
- Tune the radio to a frequency with known good reception. If possible, verify signal with another radio
- Read the output on the LCD screen and examine the table below
- To exit the Radio Signal Test turn the audio head unit off or turn the ignition switch to LOCK
